Sandy and Joanie, co-founders of The RAC (Reader/Author Connection) Magazine, live approximately 2300 miles from each other. On February 3-5, they met for The RAC Mag’s Board Meeting & Retreat in beautiful Mesa, Arizona.
Sandy flew into Arizona from Delaware, where it was 16 degrees and had snowed six inches the day before she boarded the plane. It wasn’t the typical sunshine and hot tubs in Arizona though, as it was cool and windy, with moments of cloud cover and sporadic rain sprinkles throughout the three-day meeting of the minds.
The threat of eighty percent chance of rain on Tuesday didn’t deter their adventure as they ventured into Goldfield Ghost Town, Apache Junction, Arizona. The view of Superstition Mountain from the Mammoth Saloon was fabulous as they had a great time relaxing.
It wasn’t all sightseeing, food, and fun though; it was also productive (which is fun too… oh, and they ate Cheetos… and candy… and drank a little… heck, maybe it was all food and fun). After at least a dozen pages of notes and ten hours of planning for the next year, they came up with some exciting plans ~ a few that can be divulged here: a Short Story Writing Contest, with outside judges and monetary awards, with a winner being announced in their September 2019 One-Year Celebration issue, and Short Story of the Year (from all the stories published in the magazine since the first issue). More information will be announced soon.
